About Noosa

Noosa, created in 1991, is located on the Sunshine Coast. It extends from Coolum in the south through Eumundi, Noosa and Tewantin to Kin Kin.

Seat Background

Noosa was held by the Liberal Party from 1992 until an 11.1 percent swing saw the seat fall to Labor in 2001. Cate Molloy, the current member, will be contesting this election as an independent candidate having been expelled from the party for crossing the floor on the issue of the Traveston Crossing dam. At the last election as a Labor candidate her margin was 8.7 percent.
