About Clayfield

Clayfield is located in Brisbane's inner north eastern suburbs. It incorporates Brisbane Airport and is bisected by the Gateway Motorway. It includes the suburbs of Nundah, Kalinga, Clayfield, Hendra, Ascot and Hamilton.

Seat Background

Clayfield (and those former seats it now encompasses) was a Liberal stronghold from its inception in 1950 until 2001. Liberal member, Santo Santoro, was defeated in a surprise result by Labor challenger, Liddy Clark, in that year by a margin of 2 percent. It is currently Labor's most marginal seat requiring a swing of just 1.2 percent to be lost.
