About Brisbane Central

As its name indicates Brisbane Central is located north of the Brisbane River and runs from the CBD north to Wilston and Windsor and east to New Farm and Fortitude Valley.

Seat Background

A variation of this seat has existed since the first Parliament met in 1859. For much of the 20th century it was traditional Labor heartland. The current member, Premier Peter Beattie, was first elected in 1989.
