Marrickville By-election 2005 : Home

Labor has retained the Marrickville seat with State Minister for Education and Training Carmel Tebbutt.

Tebbutt graduated from Sydney University in 1986 with an economics degree. She joined the Australian Labor Party in 1985 and became a member of its left-wing faction. She served as a Marrickville councillor in 1993 and later became a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council in 1998. After the Marrickville by-election was announced, she resigned from the Legislative Council to run for this seat.
