About Wentworth

Wentworth covers an area of 26 sq km in the eastern suburbs of Sydney from Darling Point along the southern shore of Sydney Harbour to Watson's Bay to Clovelly. The western boundary runs along Randwick Racecourse and includes Centennial Park and Paddington. Wentworth is the smallest geographical division in Australia. Main suburbs include Bellevue Hill, Bondi, Bondi Beach, Bondi Junction, Bronte, Clovelly, Darling Point, Dover Heights, Double Bay, Edgecliff, North Bondi, Paddington, Point Piper, Queens Park, Randwick, Rose Bay, Vaucluse, Watson's Bay, Waverley and Woollahra.

It supports a number of industries including finance, property services and wholesale and retail trade.

Seat Background

Proclaimed in 1901, it has always been held by the Liberal Party or its antecedents. The seat is named after William Charles Wentworth, a famous Australian explorer and statesman who accompanied Blaxland and Lawson on their crossing of the Blue Mountains in 1813.

Former Liberal leader John Hewson held this seat from 1987-1995.
