About Pearce

Pearce is a Western Australian seat which covers an area of 26, 251 sq km in outer Perth and the Avon Valley. It includes the coastal area from Quinns Rocks to Lancelin; the country centres of Gingin, Bindoon and Toodyay in the north, Northam and Grass Valley in the east and York, Beverley, Brookton, Pingelly, Narrogin, Williams and Boddington to the south plus the eastern portion of the Darling Ranges and the Swan Valley.

Industries are largely rural, and there is an RAAF Training Base in the electorate.

Seat Background

First proclaimed in 1989 Pearce is named after Sir George Pearce, the Western Australian Senator from 1901 to 1938. He served as a Minister in Labor, National and United Australia Party Governments. Its first member was Fred Chaney, now Chair of Reconciliation Australia. In 1993 he was succeeded by current incumbent, real estate agent and property developer, Judi Moylan.
