About La Trobe

This seat is situated in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, nestling in the Dandenongs around Cardinia Reservoir.

Industries include household products, car accessories and other light industries.

Seat Background

First proclaimed in 1949 the seat is name after Charles Joseph La Trobe, first Lieutenant-Governor of Victoria. While it has been held by both sides of politics, the Liberal Party most recently won it back in 1990 in a swing generated by mainly state issues, and have held it ever since.
