About Kingston
Kingston is a mixed urban rural electorate running from the southern suburbs of Adelaide to Sellicks Beach and covers an area of 377 sq km. It also includes the suburbs of Adelaide, Hackham, Hallett Cove, Happy Valley, Maslin Beach, Morphett Vale, Noarlunga, Port Willunga, Reynella, and Seaford.
Seat Background
Kingston was formed in 1949 and named after Premier of South Australia Charles Kingston who was also a member of the first Federal Parliament and Ministry as well as the leader of the Federation movement. In 1998 it was Labor’s only gain in South Australia, despite being one of the most consistently marginal seats in the country.
