About Hughes

Hughes covers an area of 265 sq km from the Georges River in the north and west, to the Royal National Park at Waterfall in the south and Sutherland, Jannali and Oyster Bay in the east. Main suburbs include Alfords Point, Bangor, Barden Ridge, Bonnet Bay, Chipping Norton, Como, Engadine, Hammondville, Heathcote, Holsworthy, Illawong, Jannali, Lucas Heights, Menai, Moorebank, Oyster Bay, Sutherland, Waterfall, Wattle Grove and Woronora Heights.

Seat Background

Hughes is named after William Hughes, the Prime Minister of Australia, first for Labor and then for the Nationalist Party. He also holds the record as the longest serving member of the Australia Parliament of 51 years and 7 months.
