About Fairfax
Sitting in the centre of Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Fairfax covers an area of 1,108 sq km to include nearly all of the Maroochy Shire. Its coastal towns running north to south include Peregian Springs, Coolum, Marcoola, Mudjimba and Maroochydore, Mountain Creek and Parreams; its hinterland north-south includes Eumundi, Yandina, Nambour, Woombye, Mapleton, Montville and Tanawah; and it stretches west through Kenilworth to the Kilcoy Shire boundary.
A little over one-third (approximately 34,500) of Fairfax's electors will be 'new' to the division. They are based around Maroochydore, Buderim and to the west of Mooloolaba and come from the seat of Fisher. A similar amount of electors from Peregian Beach north to Noosa (formerly part of Fairfax) now form the southern parts of the seat of Wide Bay.
