About Eden-Monaro

Eden-Monaro is a diverse New South Wales seat running north of the Victorian border along the Snowy Mountains to the outskirts of the national capital Canberra and east to the coast. It contains the major centre of Queenbeyan and Bateman's Bay, Narooma, Bermagui, Bega, Eden, Bombala and Cooma. Major industries are rural and tourism.

Seat Background

Eden-Monaro has had a perfect record for 32 years of always being held by the party in government. Requiring a swing of 1.7% to be lost by the Liberal Party, it may well keep its record intact this election. It was first proclaimed in 1900/01 and takes its name from the area.

Commentary and Analysis

Marginal Liberal. Since 1966 has always been held by the party which forms government.
