About Denison
This seat encompasses the city of Hobart in Tasmania's south. It runs from the city to Collinsville in the west, and from Austins Ferry in the north to Taroona in the south.
It contains the financial heart of Tasmania, as well as processing industries derived from rural and mining produce, brewing, and ship building.
Seat Background
First proclaimed in 1903 it was named after Sir William Thomas Denison, a Lieutenant-Governor of Tasmania and then Governor of New South Wales.
It has been held by Duncan Kerr since 1987, but has been held by both sides of politics at various times since its inception.
