It covers an area of approximately 189 sq kms. The main suburbs include Bundeena, Caringbah, Cronulla, Grays Point, Gymea, Gymea Bay, Kareela, Kirrawee, Kurnell, Lilli Pilli, Maianbar, Miranda, Sylvania and Woolooware as well as most of the Royal National Park. Industries include petroleum refineries at Kurnell, steel fabrication, pharmaceutical plant, boat building and oyster farming.
Seat Background
Named after Captain Cook, and also Joseph Cook, Prime Minister 1913-14. The electorate includes Kurnell, the site of Cook's first landing in 1770.
