About Brand

Brand covers an area of 430 sq km from Rowley Road in the north to the Peel Inlet in the south. It also includes the satellite cities south of Perth including Kwinana and Rockingham, the Stirling Naval Base, and the eastern part of the resort city of Mandurah further south.

Seat Background

Brand is named after Sir David Brand, the Premier of Western Australia from 1959 to 1971; and Member of the Legislative Assembly from 1945 to 1975. He governed at a time when the state was developing its new mining and industrial base. Sitting member and former Labor leader Kim Beazley is retiring at this election after 27 years as a federal parliamentarian.

Marginal Labor. Labor candidate Gary Gray is a former National Secretary of the Labor Party (1993-2000) and more recently a Director of Woodside.
