About Batman

Batman covers 53 sq.km between Merri and Darebin Creeks as far north as Mahoneys Road. It is a working class electorate in Melbourne's northern suburbs, including the suburbs of Fairfield, Northcote, Preston and Reservoir. Contains some light engineering as well as textile, clothing and footwear industries, and the campus of La Trobe University.

Seat Background

Named after founder of Melbourne, John Batman, although this is in dispute.
Batman has existed since 1906, and has been predominantly been Labor held.
