The Australian Greens candidate for Bruce

Leadership & Management Educator

Why I am standing

Rob Cassidy is 32 years-old and is the candidate for the Federal seat of Bruce representing the Australian Greens. Rob joined the Greens as he was fed up with the Howard Government’s inactivity in relation to climate change and water issues. Furthermore, he could not see the two major Australian political parties developing sustainable policies to adequately address the issues any time soon.

Rob brings a wide-ranging experience to the Greens, having worked in the Pharmaceuticals industry for six years, starting on the manufacturing floor as a machine operator and progressing through to Vendor Assurance Coordinator (a role in which he is responsible for ensuring his firm’s products are of sufficient quality to be distributed to the market). He is currently working as an Educator, conducting Leadership & Management Training Programs. Rob holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Monash University, a Diploma of Business and a Diploma of Business (Human Resources). He has also worked as a Trainer and Manager in the hospitality and entertainment industries.

Rob is strongly supportive of his local community, being a committee member of the Mt Waverley Football Club where he is responsible for the fund-raising and social activities of the club. He has also worked hard to develop enduring relationships with many small businesses in the area and has achieved agreements that are mutually beneficial to both the club and to local business owners.

Water conservation, climate change and the development of a fair and just Industrial Relations system are the three major concerns for Rob, and he is determined to see this world prosper into the future. He intends to achieve this by consulting with local experts to help develop and implement strategies that have realistic and achievable goals. These include recycled water, alternative fuels and the abolishment of Australian Workplace Agreements (AWAs). Ultimately, the values that Rob holds dear are central to his way of life. He believes the most important of these values are honesty, integrity and the right to a fair go.
