Keith Hughes
The Australian Greens candidate for Eden-Monaro
Why I am standing
Public opinion has already overtaken Liberal and Labor Parties on global warming and the vision and the courage of The Greens on this issue have already helped to form a growing community awareness. This election gives us an invaluable opportunity to put forward some genuine and practical solutions to climate change. A strong showing for The Greens can put pressure on the Liberal and Labor Parties to adopt real policies now instead of their window dressing and misrepresentation of uranium as "green" and "clean" coal. The Greens are the only party committed to ending native forest woodchipping, an industry now recognized as the region’s biggest greenhouse polluter.
