Milton Caine

Christian Democratic Party candidate for Newcastle

andidate for Newcastle

Why I am standing

After 106 years of Labor and receiving very little it is about time for a change and I can deliver that change. (It is worth noting that the local member has no local issues on her website). I belong to the Christian Democratic Party and I am encouraged by my Party to raise local issues, as a local member should. My strong Christian values qualify me to stand up for families and community values. I will back down on important issues and I am aware of important local issues as I have lived and worked in Newcastle since 1980. My webpage outlines many issues that are important to me and my electorate. I understand accountability and I promise to be accountable to the electorate by seeking input on matters before the parliament and other electorate matters that will need to be raised from time to time. I have already raise several matters of concern by constituents to the Ministers of the Federal Parliament so I have the experience to do the job. Important issues in my electorate

The need to diversify import/export activities in Newcastle Harbour. The need for policies to defuse anger in the community, including changing laws that divide the community. The need for plans to change shipping management to prevent having our coast becoming a shipping parking lot. We do not need another Pasha Bulka threatening our beaches. I will seek targeted funds to assist the disadvantaged in our community. I will seek funds to complete Highway 123, the inner Newcastle city Western Bypass that the Labor members have not been able to deliver though this was promised first in about 1935. Surely this is long enough to wait for this important road. This road must include the Western entry into the John Hunter Hospital as promised by Neville Wran. Important policy documents

Work Choices to increase employee rights in several areas including: negotiation of agreements, unlawful and unfair dismissal rules, and work safety issues. To strengthen family and community values. To drought proof Australia and protect the environment through tree plantings, storm water harvesting, recycling, and better energy sources. To deal with housing affordability by increasing supply and fighting to eliminate much of the excessive government charges. I will place a duty of care on lenders to make loan exposures affordable.
