The Australian Greens candidate for Newcastle

Why I am standing

I am the pre-selected candidate for the Newcastle Greens standing in this election to help Kerry Nettle to be re-elected to the Senate so that the Upper House can play the reviewing role in Australian politics it should. I strongly support the Greens policy to withdraw Australian troops from the war in Iraq, which has shed the blood of 1 million people.

Climate change is another key area of concern that requires urgent action. We have the technology and skills to build renewable energy sources and need a government, which doesn't pander to obsolete and dangerous technologies, which are destroying our planet.

I am a believer in the value of collective bargaining in the workplace as it is only fair to have expert advocate bargaining to improve workers’ conditions of employment. While some may have the courage to bargain for them, many are left exploited, as shown by abuses under AWAS.

I believe ordinary people achieve extraordinary things. I am an ordinary person who loves Australia and wishes the best for its citizens, so that that they we can hold our heads high in the world and not feel shamed by our government; so that our children have the highest possible quality of life on a planet, left in at least as good condition as when my generation was born. By standing as candidate for The Greens, with policies, which are innovative and caring of community, I hope to be able to achieve extraordinary things for us all.
