Why I am standing

I'm a local social worker and have worked for fifteen years to improve community well-being in Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh and the surrounding districts. My work in the public welfare and health sector has given me a sound understanding of the issues that concern people and affect their everyday lives. Our community deserves first class health care, the best schools, fair work places and opportunities for everyone. The Greens support quality services, with sustainable transport, industry and agriculture, and business. I believe that we can work together to reduce the impact of climate change, build a sustainable future and leave our children a healthy environment.

Important issues in my electorate

Our water crisis means that there is a need for urgent action that is sustainable in the long term. We need to be guided nationally by experts and informed by the best science.
The Greens will:
- set efficiency standards for new developments and appliances
- provide incentives to retrofit existing buildings with rainwater tanks and grey water systems
- support water recycling and demand reduction initiatives

* Take immediate action to combat the causes and consequences of global warming.
* Increase investment in early childhood education, public schools, TAFEs and universities.
* Strive to protect workers' rights, conditions, including the right to strike.
* Keep all moajor water resources and infrastructure in public ownership and provide better incentives for rainwater tanks and grey water systems.
* Oppose all components of the nuclear cycle.
