Andy Grodecki
The Australian Greens candidate for Forde
Greens Candidate for Forde
Why I am standing
I believe I bring fresh balanced ideas and a long-term view that will support the development of the Forde Electorate. We need a government that is based upon openness, honesty, integrity, fairness and most of all respect.
I want these to be benchmarks for me as your representative for the Forde electorate.
I live on Mulunjali land, the first peoples of the Beaudesert area, on a ‘Land for Wildlife’ bush block with my partner and have two adult sons.
I am a respected public servant, scientist, educator who has served the Beaudesert and Beenleigh communities for over 19 years. I am also an experienced business manager. Employing a dozen staff I ran a small family electronics design business for over 11 years.
As an immigrant, a proud Australian citizen, and the son of immigrant refugee parents from war-torn Holland and Poland, I believe it is important to bring Howard’s Government to account and overturn the Coalition’s inhumane refugee regulations.
As well as understanding business and the machinery of government, I have a proven track record in serving and delivering for the community as the president or executive member of more than 8 community groups in the electorate.

Important issues in my electorate
Sustainable development – I will work with developers, state and local government and the community to make Yarabilba City and Bromelton Industrial city are truly leading edge sustanable developments. I will work to introduce national building standards to ensure development is carbon, water and waste neutral.
A mobile Forde – allocation of long term funding for a regular affordable public transport system to provide mobility and access now and reduce need for major highway upgrades.
Right to responsible farming – The southern part of Forde is mainly rural I will push for mechanisms to recognise and financially reward innovation and leadership in responsible farming funded from an environmental services levy.

Making sure working parents in Forde have fair pay and conditions – overturning Howards ‘No Choices’ Industrial legislation.
Education our young people – free further education – abolish HECS and provide adequate funding for local State Schools.
A healthy Forde and healthy health system – fully funded preventative health programs and free access to a public health care.
Fnding for Solar on every roof - Making sure ordinary working families in Forde are fully funded to install solar heating and solar electric panels so they can make the ‘big switch’
