The Australian Greens candidate for Western Australia
The Greens see this election as a chance to break with the past and bring Australia into the new energy economy.
We recognise that Australia has a huge opportunity to switch to a low carbon economy. My aim is to ensure all Western Australians share in long-term wealth, generated by our diverse renewable resources, as much as we have benefitted from our mineral resources.
(Statement provided by candidate)
Greens policies have real-world applications that can effect positive change at a local, state and national level. These initiatives represent just a few of the Greens policies, but they clearly demonstrate that a move to a sustainable future is not hampered by anything other than the political will to take action.
An Energy Revolution
Western Australia has a range of options for rapidly cutting our Greenhouse Gas emissions, through an early adoption of a range of renewable energy strategies.
Light Rail for Perth
Transport announcements by other parties in this campaign have overwhelmingly favoured road upgrades, ignoring the prospect of future oil vulnerability. In the coming years, Perth faces two fossil fuel crises: rising oil prices and climate change. Both of these challenges will impact heavily on how we travel in Perth. The Greens will prioritise rail funding in regional and outer metropolitan areas to combat existing public transport shortcomings in these areas.
Water Tight
Water Tight is a comprehensive plan for ensuring that our cities and towns sustainably manage their water use amidst the competing pressures of diminishing water resources and continued urban growth.
