Family First Party candidate for Franklin

Candidate for Franklin

Why I am standing

I am married to Marie, for 26 years, and I have three children.

During the 1980's, I worked for both the Australian Taxation Office and Community Services Department in Western Australia.

In 1991 we became involved in family counselling and marriage development. In 1997 we then moved to Tasmania to continue working with families providing pastoral care and leadership.

I'm still very passionate about family issues and I believe that every effort must be made to ensure families are supported and protected.

Important issues in my electorate

First and foremost Family First politicians will represent their Electorate and their Sate in Canberra. Too many elected politicians focus on their party's agenda and their own careers and neglect the very people who voted for them.

Most legislation affects the family in some way. Consider issues such as aged care, education, hospitals and the environment. Political parties generally have a constituency they predominantly represent, like business, unions or rural voters. Family First Party Australia, as the name indicates, represents families.

Healthy and stable family life is the key to the prosperity of our communities and society. Family First will work towards change in law and policies that creates the best possible environment for strong and happy family life.

Important policy documents

High rate of male suicide - few workplaces have information on free counseling services for depression or even know how to address the situation.

Aged Care - we as a nation are guilty of neglecting our aged who did the hard work before us.

Higher education - funding extra places to make it easier, not harder for students to choose to continue their studies.
