Socialist Alliance candidate for New South Wales

Why I am standing

There needs to be a sharp u-turn away from the Howard government's policies and Kevin Rudd's 'lite' version of them. We want to see an end to the horrendous slaughter in Iraq, cynical manipulation of refugees and Indigenous communities, and frame-ups of innocent people under “anti-terrorism” laws! But the last thing we need is to give a blank cheque to an ALP that stands shoulder to shoulder with the Coalition on the essentials. The stronger the vote for the Socialist Alliance (and the Greens), the clearer the message that people don’t want Labor in government to be a continuation of the Howard years. The Socialist Alliance approach guarantees this, because it’s based on the principle that the needs of people and our planet must come before profits.
