Why I am standing

I am the newest senator for Queensland, having been elected to fill a casual vacancy in May 2007.

I strongly hold to the Liberal philosophy that it is government’s job to provide a functional operating environment for ALL its citizens and then get out of the way and let people shape their own lives.

As a Queensland senator, it’s my job to represent the different views and needs of all Queenslanders to the Government.

I bring my own life experiences to this job—as a Queensland manufacturer, a family business owner, a person with an understanding of the wastewater industry, and as a disability advocate and carer.

Important issues in my electorate

My electorate is Queensland and everywhere I travel throughout the State I meet people desperate for assistance from the Federal Government to overcome the neglect and laziness of the State Labor Government regarding roads, hospitals, schools--all the things that make a community.

My particular areas of policy interest include family businesses, Australian manufacturing, water quality and conservation issues, and the concerns of people with a disability and their parents and families.
