Daniel Berk
Australian Democrats candidate for Chisholm
Why I am standing
I want to give voters the chance to have a representative who will consider the needs of this area and represent those needs in Parliament. Too many are interested only in power for its own sake. As an Australian Democrat I am interested in working as part of the wider parliamentary process to find common solutions to the problems we face.

Important issues in my electorate
Chisholm is a diverse and accepting area that overwhelmingly rejects the politics of division and villification. I am particularly concerned by the renewed presence of One Nation in Victorian elecorates. The Australian Democrats are putting One Nation last in all preference recommendations and I commend this same action to all voters.

Important policy documents
Key issues for me include: (a) Bringing back accountability to the Senate, which has been abused by the Government since winning a Senate majority. (b) Defending the rights of all Australian citizens and residents, rather than using international developments as an excuse to curtail our freedoms. (c) Pushing for more Federal funding for public health, aged care, education and child care. (d) Exposing nuclear energy and uranium mining as the dangerous and inefficient industries that they are. (e) Ensuring a more balanced approach to workplace relations that recognises the need for both job security and flexibility.
