About Adelaide

Located in the state of South Australia, this seat covers an area of about 75 sq km, reaching from the suburbs of Kilburn and Northfield south to Clarence Park and Highgate. An inner metropolitan area, this seat includes the Adelaide central business district, along with a number of markets, universities and parklands.

Seat Background

The seat’s name derives from the city of Adelaide, itself named after Queen Adelaide, the wife of King William IV. First proclaimed in 1901, it has by and large remained Labor, with few exceptions apart from current member Trish Worth who won the seat in 1993.
