Bill Pemberton

The Australian Greens candidate for Deakin

Why I am standing

Bill has been a resident of the eastern suburbs for 29 years and, for the last 8 years, has lived in a low energy/water conserving house in Blackburn.

He was educated at Koonung Secondary College and went on to complete a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Biology, majoring in Biotechnology at RMIT. He currently works as a self-employed sustainable housing consultant.

Bill brings a common sense approach to government and is strongly committed to the ideal of a democratic, participatory society where the needs of all are respected. Having traveled extensively around Australia, as well as the USA, Canada, Mexico and Indonesia, Bill is able to view issues from a broad perspective and can appreciate different approaches to tackling issues.

Bill is a long time advocate for the protection of the environment, having been an active member of the marine environmental group, The Surfrider Foundation, for several years. As well as the environment, Bill is passionate about:

* compassion for asylum seekers and refugees
* sustainable housing
* promoting small business
* universal health care
* free education for the benefit of the community
* accountable and ethical government
* social justice
* clean fuels and renewable energy.

Bill seeks to truly represent his electorate in government and to provide an effective, sustainable and trustworthy alternative to the major parties.

When you vote for Bill as your Greens lower house candidate in Deakin, you are choosing social justice, sustainable environmental practices, sustainable business practices and a more inclusive community.
